One the best ways to destroy your productivity is trying to be perfect. It can’t be done! One major habit that all productive and profitable online marketers share is the ability to focus on the big picture and ignore the small stuff. This is one of the most important time management skills that you will ever develop.
Successful marketers identify the key components of their business and ignore the little things.
One of the ways I make money is by selling products and tools that help other online marketers become more productive. To be successful I need to find products that fill the needs of my market and drive qualified traffic to those products. That’s it. That’s the big picture.
Since my market is online marketers and I’m also an online marketer, I ask myself will this product help me in my online marketing? Then I buy it and try it. If it meets expectations then I add it to my product line. If not, I return it for a refund.
Important Note: If you want real and lasting success online, never market a poor quality product. Your goal is to create customers who look to you as a resource, because they know if you say it’s worth the money it is.
Now, let’s look at getting qualified traffic to your market.
In our business, content is king. We create articles, videos, audios, product reviews, squeeze pages and then use these tools to generate traffic to our sales pages.
This is where most online marketers drop the ball. They spend so much time trying to create the perfect article, that they never get anything done.
When creating content, take a big picture approach. Decide what message you want to get across and as soon as your content does that, you’re done.
Don’t worry about the small stuff. Get your content out there. Once it’s online, you can tweak it and make it better, but first get it online.
If I had to pay for every grammatical error I’ve made in my articles, I’d be in real trouble!
My focus is not on writing the perfect article, it’s in providing good content, that has value, is readable, and get’s my point across. If my content is good enough and I can get traffic to it. Everything else is secondary.
If you want to be a productive and profitable online marketer, focus on your big picture and ignore the small stuff.
One way to do this is to make a list of your “dirty dozen” those little picture things that get in your way. Keep the list in front of you when your working and when you find yourself something on your list STOP DOING IT.
I keep a rubber band on my wrist. When I catch myself doing one the items on my list, I snap the band and tell myself not to do it. It hurts a bit, but soon I find that I don’t do that any more. Punishment can be a great motivator.
Here’s a tip: Select one item on your “dirty dozen” each week and focus on not doing it. As soon as you find that you’re no-longer doing one of your “dirty dozen” take it off your list and add a new one.
By developing the habit of focusing on the big picture and ignoring the small stuff, you’ll have taken a giant step towards becoming a productive and profitable online marketer.
